Please reach us at infomassageinsoma@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
A health history form is required to be filled out, so please come to your 1st session about 10 minutes early in order to complete this task or please fill out the form on-line under Home/Intake Form. You will then be asked to answer a few general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed and to determine if massage is appropriate for you. Certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition may be necessary if you are coming in for corrective therapy verses massage for relaxation.
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.
Depending on the primary technique used, you may or may not need to undress. For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear, bathing trunks or a sports bra.

You will be given your privacy to undress, and you will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times except the area being worked on.
Make yourself comfortable. You may be asked to adjust your position, or your practitioner will move you or will ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It’s up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Please do not hesitate to ask questions at any time or ask for what you need such as a glass of water, a tissue, or room temperature adjustment.
In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes (effleurage) that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, Deep Tissue massage will be added. With Deep tissue the pressure will gradually be increased to relaxing specific areas and unlocking specific areas of fascia bunching muscle tension. Do not hesitate to ask questions or mention if you feel any discomfort so that the pressure or intensity can be adjusted, or another approach or technique can be used.
I mainly use unscented organic oils, lotions and creams in my practice. My working oil is 100% Organic, Unscented Coconut Oil. For my Corrective Massage sessions, I use Bio-Freeze and Mineral Ice therapy Gels, Anti-Flam Herbal Balm, and Flex-Power Pain Relief Cream in limited amounts. However, if you have sensitivity these certain types of oils, creams or lotions, please do not hesitate to bring your own oil, lotion or cream you feel the most comfortable having on your body.
No, there are several medical conditions that would make massage inappropriate such as a broken or dislocated bone or joint, or extreme inflammation. That’s why it is necessary that you fill out the health history forms and before you begin your session. If any of these conditions are present, I may suggest we treat the surrounding areas instead of applying massage therapy directly to the affected area. Or I may suggest you apply cold compresses to the inflamed area for a few days before coming in to get therapy. It is very important that you inform me of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor’s care, I may require a recommendation or approval from your doctor before booking.
A traditional full-body massage treatment lasts approximately one hour. For a body that is exhibiting more than one issue, 90 minutes is advisable in order to completely address the whole body. Many people in my practice prefer 90-minute session for optimal relaxation. And for the most indulgent experience, I also offer 2 hour sessions
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is highly recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage. I also highly recommend a hot Epsom salt bath that encourages the release of toxins that may have been stirred up from the massage treatment.
Thank you for being respectful to my practice by reading these "two" pieces of information before booking… 1. Sessions are “THERAPEUTIC ONLY." 2. Any client that books and supposes a session BEYOND THERAPEUTIC, or attempts ANY TOUCHING OF THE PRACTITIONER while on the table will be asked to leave our place of business immediately without reimbursement of the session. 3. Massage In Soma has the right to refuse service to anybody for any reason who compromises the safety or sanctity of the practitioner and/or establishment concerning reputation, professional time, or financial wellbeing. Thank you for respecting my place of business.
